Pat Lawrence: The coin is very interesting also in some other respects: The head of Septimius looks pre-Tertullus and the attitude and stance and the proportions of the Harpokrates make it resemble the unusual one for Diadumenian.

This coin belongs to a group of unsigned types with big flans. Here it is the type where the obv. legend begins with AV behind the neck. Another type has AV below the bust. Even though the coin is badly corroded, the legends could have been reconstructed.

very rare (R8), about F/F+, brown patina, corroded especially on obv.

Coins of Ulpianus for Severus are rare, in contrast to coins for Caracalla or Geta. This type was known only for Geta. Because types often were struck parallel for all three emperors it is possible that this type could be found for Caracalla too! The obv. combination of legend AVT L CEPTI and this bust type draped and cuirassed is not known.

The object in the r. hand of the emperor is not clear at all. Sometimes it is called a sword. I think a small Nike is the most probable.

Portal with 2 projecting side wings; thereupon a similar structured building whose central
part has 3 gate openings and a pediment with shield and spear; the side wings seem to
be open halls with 4 pillars each and pitched roof; through the open gate of the lower
building the front of a tetrastyle temple is visible.

Pick: Nature and purpose of this building found on coins of Severus and Caracalla I don't know. It is hardly identical with the building on coins of Macrinus (pl. III, 21)

There is a similar type of Tertullus for Caracalla, but with statue of Zeus within.

F+, very rare, dark green Patina

The statue within the temple doesn't look like Asklepios. It can well be a tree entwined by snake as on Varbanov 2493.
