extremely rare, unique?, rare, F+/about VF, stripped

Reminiscent of the type of Eros reclining r. on lion's skin (?), holding torch almost horizontally beneath him, known at Nicopolis for Caracalla Caesar and Julia Domna, AMNG 1468 and 1489, pl. XVI.4. There, however, one of Eros' wings is clearly visible above him. I'm not sure Eros is meant under Commodus too, since the all-important wing isn't visible. (Curtis Clay)

Where did I read that the Caracalla Eros Æ21 (Caesar) is as Eros also known elsewhere where Eros is playing Herakles, and is here sleeping as a very weary Herakles from all his Labors? So both answers may be true, or the wing (given Commodus's die engraver) might just not show. (Pat Lawrence)

The Isis knot 'tet' was a symbol for wellbeing
sistrum, a kind of rattle, originally belonging to Hathor
situla, an Egyptian jug for sacred water, lower part tapering with pointed end

The object in the r. hand of the river-god appears as a thin stick but should be a rudder; anyway it is no reed as Santini has suggested (Pick).
The big bronzes from Commodus are from bad style. They all seem to come from the same die-cutter, perhaps his first ones (Pick).

Pick called the object in the r. hand of the river-god a rudder. But here it is clearly a waterplant. I think this type has 2 subtypes:
subtype a with the urn within or above the groundline and a typical waterplant, and
subtype b with the urn under the groundline and a waterplant looking more like a rudder
Here it is obviously subtype a. But look at my other coins of this type!

This coin was difficult to attribute. The solution was the remarkable obv. portrait, which was found on HrJ (2011) 8.10.13.2 for Nikopolis and on asiaminorcoins.com 2/21 but here misattributed as Marcus Aurelius to Metropolis/Ionia. Both coins are from the same dies. So I had the opportunity to complete the obv. legend which is remarkable too.

The obv. legend of HrJ (2011) No. 8.10.13.2 (M ANTWNEINOC KOMODOC) should now be corrected to M AVR KOMODOC ANTWNEINOC.

c) Hristova/Hoeft/Jekov (2018) No. 8.10.38.20 (plate coin)
very rare, F+, green patina

ICCT is a well known legend error. But the obv. legend AVT L KAI or AVT A KAI or AVT M KAI is unknown. His name was L. AVRELIVS COMMODVS, and changed in Oct. 180 to M. AVRELIVS COMMODVS. My suggestion: This coin was struck before Oct. 180.

What immediately catches the eye is the clear Y at the beginning of the second part of the legend. This only occurs with the legends for Commodus at A - YR and the A at the end of the first legend part fits well. In the name KOMODOC the KO is missing and the M is only a stunted letter.

There seem to be some more letters in ex.: TRON?
Never seen before a snake entwined around 2 feet!
