Usually the coins with the countermark Δ on one side carry on the other side the countermark NIKO (Howgego 553). This is the first coin I know that carries only Δ..
The fact that here the counterstamp was applied to a coin which is not yet worn out speaks for Howogego's assumption that "it may be that the coins were not worn when they were countermarked, but that the countermark allowed the coins to circulate until they were worn. Since the type of a countermark was recessed into the coin it remained visibile long after the original type of the coin had been worn flat." (Howgego, p.11)
Prof.Jekov has mailed me that it is Odessos in Thrace.Jochen

(4) rev. Greek legend, obv. Latin legend
(5) Latin legends occur only in Deultum (for Moesia)
So this is a hybrid of an obv. from Deultum and a rev. from Nikopolis, an ancient imitation!Jochen

Pick: The image of the deity is despite its good preservation not identifiable for sure; Svoronos took the figure for female, I like Sestini held the figure for male. Wether the object on which his r. hand is resting should be a shield, is doubtful too; Svoronos thought it was a column. Sestini wanted to see a bearded (?) Ares, who was resting with his r. hand on a shield and with his l. hand on a spear. However a reliable determination is not possible.
Hristova/Hoeft/Jekov calls the figure "Herakles". It can well be that the figure is not nude but has the lion's skin over his l. shoulder and the lion's scalp on his head.Jochen

From Forum Ancient Coins, thanks!
Pick writes in a note: It is uncertain, wether the figure wears a kalathos or a mural crown on her head; but probably Concordia is meant and not the City Goddess, because the latter would hold a sceptre instead of the cornucopiae. Jochen

The Nemesis issues for Gordian from Nikopolis are very variable regarding the rev. legends. Many have errors. Especually the distribution on the fields was obviously problematic. The obv. legend is very rare. AMNG knows only one (#2090), and Varbanov cites only #4259. Both without AVG at the end.
