04/01/17 at 17:29This piece is, in fact, a semi-regal piece (Charlton NS-1D), as the key diagnostics of Courteau 277 (Charlton NS-3A1) is a weakly struck centre and a single ribbon hanging behind the neck. The repeated misattribution of semi-regals thistles as Co. 277 (which is a fairly scarce piece) stems from early editions of the Charlton catalogue plating a semi-regal variety as a detailed image of "NS-3A1". It has since been corrected in recent editions, but many pieces misattributed using older editions are still out there.
