|
Vespasian. 69-79A.D. AR Denarius. Rome Mint. 76 A.D. (3.31g, 18.6m, 6h). Obv: IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG, laureate head right. Rev: IOVIS CVSTOS, Jupiter standing facting, with patera over alter and scepter. RIC II 849, RSC 222, BMC 276.
Dated to coins with COS VII with obverse die links, this is a new type issued for 76 A.D. This is a decent specimen of this common type issued towards the end of Vespasian’s reign.
