FRANCE -- LOUIS XV (1714-1774) Jeton, Brass. Obv.: Portrait of king left. LVD XV D G FR ET N REX Rev.: Nnimbate St. George & dragon, VIS ANIMICUM CORPORE CRESCIT. 24 mm.
Very cool! I like the portrait, and the reverse is very very interesting.... I often see coins with St. George fighting the dragon, but this is the only one I have seen where it appears the dragon is dead or dying at his feet after being defeated..... now that is one cool coin, I also really like the bust of Louis XV on this one... the drapery and shoulder flaps... very impressive and royal-looking.
