AR drachm; struck during second reign in regnal year 30 = 619 A.D.; WH = Veh-Ardashir mint (in Central Iraq); 3.94 g., 32.57 mm. max., 90°
Obv: Facing bust, head right, wearing winged (second type) crown with star and crescent, inside double dotted-border , crescents with stars at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock; hwslwb (= Khusro) in Pahlavi alphabet to right, GDH ligature and apzwt in Pahlavi alphabet (= may his glory/splendor grow) to left.
Rev: Fire altar with two attendants standing facing, both hands on sword hilt, crescents on heads, all inside triple dotted-border, crescents with stars at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock; WH (= mint abbreviation for Veh-Ardashir mint) in Pahlavi alphabet to right, SYH (= regnal year 30) in Pahlavi alphabet to left.
Sold as a Hephthalite issue in the style of a Sasanian coin. However, the coin lacks a Sogdian tamgha and appears to be an official Khusro II issue.
