|
AR dr., 4,16gr, 21,26mm; Sellwood 27.1, Shore 85; Sunrise 293;
mint: Rhagai; axis: 12h;
obv.: bare-headed bust, left, w/diadem, knot and 2 ribbons; short cap like hair, mustache, long beard; earring, multi-turn torque w/ griffin finial; cuirass; dotted border 8 to 16h;
rev.: archer, right, on throne, w/bow in right hand; very long empty sleeve; 5-line legend: (B)AΣIΛEΩΣ BAΣIΛEΩN MEΓAΛoY APΣAKoY EΠIΦANoYΣ;
with issue Sellwood 27 the title 'King of Kings' appears for the first time; also, the legends are becoming more and more sloppy - the celators seem to have particular difficulties cutting the letter B, the overly long horizontal bar of the letter Γ begins to appear frequently; the bottom line, here: 'MEΓAΛOY', must be read from the inside.
