ROMAN EMPIRE, Julian II, AE1 Antioch
Julian II. 360-363 AD. AE1 (8.89 gm). Antioch mint, 4th officina. DNFLCLIVLI-ANVSPFAVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right / SECVRITAS REIPVB, bull standing right, two stars above; (palm) ANTD (palm).
RIC VIII 216; LRBC 2640.
Grade: good VF, dark brown patina.
I can not understand why the coin was graded as gVF only - there are no any visible traces of circulating.
The most perfect portrait of Julian which I have seen ever. If you do not agree, show me better!

Beautiful. I can only assume that whoever graded it was more used to dealing with modern coins.

Amazing detail on the portrait. Great coin all in all. A solid five star!

Incredibly sharp coin! The actual die has a quality that is superior to many others of this type.

AMAZING! Does justice to Julian the Philosopher and Hellenism Greek culture!

Wow! Fantastic portrait and what a beard. Details are great but the artistic structuring - the line of the beard is fabulous. Julian II. Beard. Antioch. Brings the Misopogon to life!

I'm usually unimpressed with the artistry of 4th century Roman coins This one blows me away Maybe gVF means "Great, Very Fantastic" IMO EF+ is conservative, it could be mint state, except for the slightest wear on the high points What a beautifully preserved and crafted coin

Ditto Steve's comments
