Osroes I. Forgery
FORGERY!!  AR dr.,  3,95gr,   19.9mm;   after Sellwood 80.1,   Shore 422,   Sunrise 443,
mintmark of Ekbatana;   axis:  12h;
obv.:  bare-headed, left, w/ 4-strand diadem (the bottom strand has a nick), 2 floating bun ties and 3 ribbons; top hair in a tied large bun,  side hair in large bun consisting of 4 concentric circles of dots around a central dot, 1 dot in the inner circle is missing; long pointed triangular beard;  earring, 1-layer necklace;  dotted border 9 to 15h;
rev.:  archer, right, on throne, w/bow in one hand and monogram below bow;  throne has seat (-), throne back has 5 cross bars;  6-line  legend:  ⧠ΛIIΛͰ ⧠ΛIIΛͰΛͶ ΛͰΛN⧠ ΛIXΛI⧠  IIΓ.II (last two to be read from the inside), I+ΛͶ⧠V;

bought as forgery from a collector.

There are numerous copies of this type (cf. the following coin) in circulation, and surprisingly they appear again and again for sale as genuine, not only on Ebay. Obv. and rev. are always the same as in this sample: The obv. shows only 1 necklace layer, a nick in the bottom diadem strand, and a missing dot in the bun, the rev. has a throne seat (-) and 5 cross bars through the throne back.
