Philip I
|
This is nice a example of Provincial coin of Philip the Arab. AD 248 mint of Antioch
Obverse: "AVTOK K MA IOVΛ ΦIΛIΠΠOC CЄB"
Laureate and draped bust right from the rear.
Reverse: "ANTIOXЄΩN MHTPO KOΛΩ S C"
Veiled and turreted bust of Tyche of Antioch right; Є in field.
This coin was given to me by my father in 1999. He told me he had it for about 40 years. This is my very first ancient coin I've ever had. It is actually the coin which made me passionate about ancient coins.
