REVERSE: VIRTVS INVICTI AVG (Emperor on horse spearing enemy begging on his knees and on a shield. In front of the horse, a winged victory flying to the right, holding a laurel wreath in her hand. No exergue line)
BUST TYPE: E1 = radiate, helmeted, cuirassed bust left, holding spear and shield decorated with floret

WEIGHT: 3,25 g / AXIS: 12h / DIAMETER: 23,5 mm
RIC: 454
COLLECTION NO. 1407
NOTE: spectacular, extremely rare and desirable reverse type struck only at Ticinum during the 3rd emmission (after Probus' successful military campaign in Germania) in combination with an interesting military bust with shield decorated with floret. Despite the flan crack a true gem and coin of the highest rarity and numismatic interest!
Only the 3rd example of this exact type known to me (the remaining two are listed by S. Estiot in her 2006 article on the 3rd emmission of Ticinum under Probus "Une campagne germanique de l’empereur Probus : l’atelier de Ticinum en 277-278").
