PROBUS RIC 837 VAR. "A" OFFICINA RRR
OBVERSE: VIRTVS PROBI AVG
REVERSE: ADVENTVS PROBI AVG
BUST TYPE: E1 = Radiate, helmeted and cuirassed bust left, holding spear and shield (decorated with emperor on horse)
FIELD / EXERGUE MARKS: -/-//A
WEIGHT 4.17g / AXIS: 12h / WIDTH 23mm
RIC: 837 VAR. (MINTMARK "A" UNLISTED)
COLLECTION NO. 541

NOTE: EMPEROR ON HORSE + SOLDIERS ON SHIELD

THIS COIN IS PART OF AN UNPUBLISHED AND EXCEEDINGLY RARE GREEK LETTER EMMISSION WHICH WAS STRUCK SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH PINK'S LATIN LETTER 3rd EMMISSION.

This coin was struck from the same pair of dies as my coin no. 1106

Only the 5th known specimen in the world, including my coin no. 1106 which is the fourth known (INFORMATION FROM PH.GYSEN + MY OWN DATABASE)

Adventvs Probi Avg is a rare reverse type for Serdica in itself but in combination with the sole "A" mintmark from an unpublished, exceedingly rare greek letter phase of the 3rd emmission makes this coin it a true gem!
