Titus RIC II 0015
Titus 79-81 A.D. AR Denarius.  Rome mint. After July 1, in 79 A.D. (3.02g, 17.4m, 6h). Obv: IMP TITVS CɅES VESPɅ[SIɅN AVG P M], laureate head right.  Rev: TRP VIIII IMP XIIII COS VII, Venus standing right, leaning on column with helmet and spear.  RIC II 15 (R2).

Titus became Augustus following Vespasian’s death on June 24, 79 A.D. in a smooth transfer of power.    This coin was minted early in Titus’ reign before he received the title P P.
