Vespasian 69-79 A.D. AR Denarius. Rome Mint. 76 A.D. (3.25g, 19.6mm, 6h). Obv: IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG, laureate head right. Rev: COS VII across field, eagle standing front on base/cippus, wings open, head right. RIC II 845.
RIC II describes the eagle as standing on a garlanded base and holding a thunderbolt in its claws. This example lacks the garland or thunderbolt, but has a nice flan and full legends.
