Domitian RIC II 0764
|
Domitian. 81-96 A.D. AR Denarius. Rome Mint. 93 14 Sept.-94, 13 Sept. A.D. (3.77g, 18.8mm, 6h). Obv: IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM PM TR P XIII, laureate head right. Rev: IMP XXII COS XVI CENS PPP, Minerva standing left with spear (M4). RIC II 764.
This period of Domitian’s reign saw tremendous issues of denarii with the ubiquitous four Minerva reverse types. The lettering on this example is crowded, probably reflecting the hurried production of dies during this period.
