One of the first studies on falsifying ancient coins was made by
J.N.Svoronos in the beginning of 20th c. He traced the production of
one of the best counterfeiters at that time Christodoulos and
according to the contemporary requirements has made plaster casts of
the fake coins that he has described and published in order to prevent
the numismatists and museums from this fraud.
