Septimius Severus
RIC433 C659 |
IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II T.RP.III.IMP.V.COS.II |
Some late issues of Emesa are dated to 195 AD (TRP III). These coins often show punctuation separating the words and use what appears to be a gamma in place of one I in COS II. The reverse showing a seated captive is found with several minor varieties.

IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II TRP III IMP V COS II |
On this coin, the captive is holding his head rather than having the hands tied behind his back.

RIC435 C658 |
IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II .TRPIII IMP .V.COS.II |
The other dated reverse type shows a trophy of arms with two captives seated at its base. The captives always wear the curved hats that identify them as Parthians.
