How the site is
organized
If this is your first visit, you might benefit from the
following description of the structure of the site.
A first division of the material has been done between
Central Pages and
Topics. This
division is reflected in the GML
Home Page, but whereas the contents of
Topics is
detailed in the Home Page, that of the
Central Pages is
not: you must visit each central page to view its contents.
Other divisions are best visualized in this table:

Notice that:
- The genealogy of characters usually appears
separated from the main text in each page.
- Numbering of namesakes. The numbers following
the names of individuals do not belong to the original
names, and are for identification purposes only. The
numbers are consistent throughout all texts but they do
not represent a chronological order. The absence of a
number indicates that there is only one mythological
character with that particular name.
- The main information about a character is found in
his/her biography, but more information may be found if
the character belongs to a 'Group', or even in the
section Places &
Peoples where the mythical history of cities (and
throne succession) is narrated.
- Charts are of
different kinds:
- The images are divided into:
- The most important maps have been compiled in
a Maps Album
(PDF), but high resolution images may be acquired
separately.
- Sources are listed at the end of each page,
where a link to
Abbreviations is
provided
- At the end of each page, a list of relevant or
related links is usually provided
- For new material, check
Additions.
A chronological strategy for the study of the myths has
been outlined at Getting
acquainted with the myths. Even if you choose another
method, the table provides a summary of the material and a
fair number of important links conveniently organized.
