It is not possible to precisely date this type but it may have been struck when Augustus visited the region in 15 - 14 B.C. Octavian-Augustus founded Julia Traducta by moving part of the population of Zilis, in North Africa, and settling them there alongside his veterans. His purpose was to establish a stronghold of his supporters in an area that had overwhelmingly supported Pompey during the Civil War.
