Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, Ptolemy VIII Euergetes II (Physcon), Second Reign, 145 - 116 B.C.
|Ptolemaic| |Egypt|, |Ptolemaic| |Kingdom| |of| |Egypt,| |Ptolemy| |VIII| |Euergetes| |II| |(Physcon),| |Second| |Reign,| |145| |-| |116| |B.C.|, Svoronos notes three different Cyprus mints for tetradrachms with A below the LN for year 50 (Svor. 1526, 1565 and 1613), separated by a star symbol: Paphos, Salamis and Kition. Chris Bennett offers an analysis of the situation: M. L. Strack, Die Dynastie der Ptolemäer  47ff., 177ff., argued that "Ptolemy VII Neos Philopator (father-loving)" was Ptolemy Memphites, a younger son of Ptolemy VIII and (probably) Cleopatra II, born while his father was being crowned at Memphis. This is a different prince than the Ptolemy, son of Cleopatra II by Ptolemy VI, who was dismembered on orders of Ptolemy VIII and delivered to his mother's banquet in Alexandria in 130 B.C. His inclusion in the dynastic list implied to Strack that he was either an anti-king (subsequently legitimized) or a co-regent.
