Salonina, Augusta 254 - c. September 268 A.D., Actia Nicopolis, Epirus, Greece
|Epirus|, |Salonina,| |Augusta| |254| |-| |c.| |September| |268| |A.D.,| |Actia| |Nicopolis,| |Epirus,| |Greece|, Nikopolis, Epirus was founded as a "free" Greek city after the battle of Actium, 31 B.C. It grew very quickly into a big city, its population of Greek citizens gathered by force from twenty cities of Aetolia, Acarnania and Epirus, also Corinth, and even Italy. Instantly Nikopolis became a pole of attraction for the Mediterranean area, because of citizen's connections throughout the region, its excellent location, three ports, and the Aktia (games held every five years).

The letter "A" possibly abbreviates AΠΕIPΩTAN (Epirus). More likely "A" abbreviates AKTIA (as spelled out in full on some earlier coins of the city). The single letter could also have the double meaning of first or number one.
