Priene, Ionia, c. 330 - 280 B.C.
Priene was on the sea coast, about 6 km north of the mouth of the Maeander, and 25 km from Miletus. It was formerly overlooking the ocean on steep slopes and terraces extending from sea level to a height of 380 meters (1,250 ft). The shoreline has moved and today it is inland site, a short distance west of the modern village Gllbahce Turun in the Ske district of Aydın Province, Turkey.
