Caesar crossed it the Rubicon in 49 B.C. and used it during the entire Civil War, after which it was disbanded. Octavian recreated it for the war against Sextus Pompey and later used it at Actium. In 69 A.D. the legion chose the loser's side twice, fighting for both Otho and Vitellius. After the Dacian wars Trajan stationed it at Apulum, the largest city of Dacia (Alba-Iulia, Romania). Rare with only 1 specimen in the Reka Devnia hoard.
