The Scott Collection of "Aequiti" Probus Embedded Codeword Antoniniani

The coins of Probus offer a unique and very interesting collecting focus - the embedded codeword series of antoniniani struck at Rome and Ticinum. Each of these coins was struck with a single letter of a codeword embedded in the mintmark. Each officina (workshop) at the mint was assigned one letter of a codeword. When the coins of each embedded codeword type are assembled in officina order, the embedded letters spell out the codewords AEQVITI (at Rome), and AEQVIT and later EQVITI (at Ticinum). Click "AEQVITI" to read the NumisWiki article, "Coins of Probus with Coded Markings of AEQVITI Embedded in the Mintmark." Click "codeword or codewords" to read the NumisWiki article, "The Translation of the Codewords AEQVITI, IOBI and HPKOYΛI."
