Justin I, 10 July 518 - 1 August 527 A.D.

Joint rule with Justinian I (his nephew), 4 April - 1 August 527 A.D.
Of Macedonian peasant origin, Justin I rose through the ranks of the military and was proclaimed emperor by the army on 10 July 518 A.D. He was uneducated, but intelligent enough to rely upon the policy advice of his brilliant nephew, Justinian I. Justinian was raised to the rank of co-Emperor months before Justin's death on 1 August 527 A.D.		Map 526 AD

They look similar, but there is a significant physical difference between angels and Victory. Angels are all male. Victory (Nike) is female. On Byzantine coinage, the male angel replaced the female Victory after the reunion with Rome was concluded on 28 March 519 A.D.SH54778.
