Struck by Menander, the satrap of Lydia, 331 - 321 B.C. or by Kleitos (Cleitus the White), the satrap of Lydia, 321 - 318 B.C., in the name of Philip III Arrhidaeus, Alexander's mentally disabled half-brother. Philip was the bastard son of Philip II and a dancer, Philinna of Larissa. Philip and Alexander's infant son Alexander IV were made joint kings by Alexander's generals, who really only intended to use them as pawns. The regents held power, while Philip III was actually imprisoned. In 317, Philip was murdered by Olympias, Alexander's mother, to ensure the succession of her grandson.RS77030.
