Silver antoninianus, RIC IV 145, RSC IV 155, Hunter III 58, SRCV III 8623, VF, well centered on a broad flan, nice portrait, struck with a worn reverse die, marks, flan cracks, Rome mint, weight 3.771g, maximum diameter 23.0mm, die axis 45o, 243 - 244 A.D.; obverse IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind; reverse MARS PROPVG (Mars the defender), Mars advancing right, wearing helmet and military garb, cloak flying behind, transverse spear in right hand, shield in left hand; SOLD
