Silver half stavraton, SBCV 2563 - 2564, gVF, toned, Constantinople (Istanbul, Turkey) mint, weight 7.093g, maximum diameter 23.6mm, die axis 0o, obverse bust of Christ facing, cross nimbus, tunic and himation, right hand raised in benediction, Gospels in left hand, IC - XC (Greek abbreviation: Jesus Christ) across field, double border with eight pellets between; reverse IWANHC ΔECΠOTIC O ΠAΛEOΛOΓOC / ΘV XARITI AVTOKPATOP (or similar), bust of John VIII facing, bearded, nimbate, crown with pendilia, pellet in left and right fields; SOLD
