No legion with the name Classicae is known from the imperial period. The old Caesarean legions XVII, XVIII and XIX were destroyed with Scribonius Curio in Africa in 49 B.C., restored by Octavian (Augustus), and then destroyed again in Germany under Quinctilius Varus in 9 A.D.
