I am pleased to announce that we have honored Pekka Kemppinen, Tribunus Plebis 2013, with the designation Tribunus Plebis Perpetuus. Thanks Pekka for providing outstanding advice to our members, and for contributing exceptionally informative posts. Your contributions have made the discussion board an excellent resource for beginners and experts alike. Congratulations for your well deserved recognition.

Congratulations to Doug Smith our Tribunus Plebis 2014! Thanks on behalf of Forum Ancient Coins and all our Classical Numismatics Discussion Board members for your outstanding and unique contributions to this community. Thanks especially for sharing your superb website on NumisWiki. Your website pages provided many of our members with their introduction to ancient coins and initial classical numismatics eduction. Your webpages are so well written that a beginner can understand and enjoy them, and the experienced collector can revisit the same pages years later and enjoy them again, learn more, and gain a deeper understanding. This award is an expression of sincere appreciation and admiration from our members for your support and the education you have provided. Thanks!

On behalf of all our members, I would also like to thank all our nominees. Thank you for generously sharing your time and expertise. All of you deserve more appreciation and honor than I can express.

I always enjoy your posts Pekka, so no offence intended at singling out Doug here, but I have to admit I was extremely happy when Doug was nominated and to see that he was one of the two that won.  When I first started into ancient coins well over a decade ago I had two things at my disposal - a copy of Van Meter's book and Doug's website.  It was Doug's site in particular that kept me fascinated and led me to explore further.  Whenever I see his site it always takes me back to these first heady days of collecting.

For me it was an extreme honour to simply have been nominated in the same category as him.

Congrats to both!!  +++ +++

I still remember, back in late 90s, Doug's site was a treasure trove of info and my first introduction to ancient coinage, still a few years before I'd enter this exciting world directly.  :) +++ +++ +++
