Hello Eric what a lovely and i dare say large collection of Hadrians coins.

Say what you want about Julius, Claudius ect. But Hadrian will always stand out in my book. Got few coins from him myself, and his portraits are just amazing!

Looking at your coins allmost wanna make me go from Greeks to Hadrian.

Dear Kim,

thank you for the kinds words, indeed about only Hadrian.
some years ago other "special" coins came into my collection, but now only 99,99% Hadrian.
i would sell them one day.

The worship of Hadrian as 'Zeus Olympios' in the east of the empire was also practiced in Miletus. A proof of this is this coinage, which the emperor explicitly names as 'ΟΛΙΜΠΙΟC'. In addition, the archaeological excavations in Miletus have been used to discover a large number of household altars who had been consecrated to Hadrian, who had inscriptions such as "The Caesar Trajan Hadrian Sebastos Zeus Olympios" (Friesen, Imperial Cults, p. 177)
