« on: December 21, 2014, 10:14:15 am »
Hello everyone,

after a while, some greek silver fractions updates :

A Trieros hemiobol :
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-116116

A nice condition Lesbos obol (i could not find a reference for that one, with B (O) above the boars heads) :
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-116114

A rare Massalia litra, with Athena wearing a corinthian helmet instead of the more common attic one:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-116081

Thank you very much for looking,
AC

Thank you very much, Quadrans, cool ! Nice to be back, so much things to learn and look at in this forum.
Bad weather means free time, so here is another little update, greek AR fractions as before:

Calabria, Tarentum tritemorion :
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-116117

Aeolis, Kyme scarce hemiobol :
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-116584

both showing wonderful horse engraving, imho.

Thanks,
AC

Hi all,
here is a 7.5mm AE from Mysia, Pitane. It offered some challenge to get a correct picture of this black patina tiny one.

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-116207

Hope you'll like it. Sweat was all around ! :)

Attached preview pic is close from what you get in hand with that small piece of amazing art.

Best to all,
AC

Thank you very much, Doug, much appreciated !

This update is about a Lesbos fraction, the often seen "confronted boar heads".
There is so much discovery possibilities with these, that finding and picturing them is a rewarding task, in my opinion.
That one is anepigraphic.

Magnificent coins, wonderful photography!
All historical inquiry is contingent and provisional, and our own prejudices will in due course come under scrutiny by our successors.

Next is a tiny (6.5mm!) silver fraction from Miletos. I love these little ones, but they are a masochistic pleasure to photography !

Nice coins. The small bronze from Pitane is my favourite of those shown in this thread.

Thank you very much, Sam.

Here is another one. I just could not resist the patina, even with the break in it. Syracuse, under Timoleon :

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-116761

I hope it will look OK on screen, as getting those dark green patinas on photography is challenging. The risk being to over expose it and lose the feeling.
Thank you for looking,

AC
