Identifying Arrowheads
« on: December 03, 2014, 12:47:41 am »
Is there a good book and/or website that could help a new collector identify ancient arrowheads?
I have several and all are said to be Roman but I have my doubts.

This has been commented on in several threads.  Try searching arrowhead or arrowheads.

Absolutely, totally, fantastically, awesome work!!!!

What a great service Joe.

I have hardly been on forum for a month due to work travel, short holiday, sending eldest child off to college and moving house (only moving a few blocks but still have to do all the packing etc).  So I have just seen this.  And unfortunately my collection is all in boxes but I can't wait to go through my arrowheads and compare to this.

"Work in progress" but it is already better than anything out there.

Thanks.  I had to take a pause.  I ordered some additional books. They will add a little more to the puzzle but it is surprising how little is published and how much what it is published conflicts or lacks detail.

Really great resource Joe.  I have a few that I'll upload once I've figured out what I have.

Ideally, you don't have to upload them because the types are already there and you use the page to identify them. Of course, not all types are listed yet and probably never will be.  But ideally all the types that were made in large numbers for military forces will be listed.
