I understand this to be a Bronze/iron age oil lamp, reasonable thought?

Yes, reasonable thought. My experience leads me to believe this might be from the Indus valley.  Lots of high-walled wheel spun lamps are from there.  This looks like one of them.  That being said, it's not hard for a potter anywhere else to make one, either.  Just a guess!

It can be difficult to pin down a simple and universal style like this to a specific region and period without knowledge of its provenience.
