Nummus with apparent Jewish legend
« on: October 06, 2014, 04:47:45 am »
This small nummus was found in a hoard in Lebanon. Only weighs 0.20 g and has a diameter of about 6 mm. It seems to have a Jewish legend, 4 letters in one line.
Does anyone have any idea what it might be?
Thanks

And if this money was written with the Syriac alphabet, instead of the jew?
The money comes from a Lebanese hoard of the  half  of sixth century, dated with certainty as buried by an earthquake in 551.

Maybe later Islamic and fell down a hole into a 551 layer?  Also, is it bronze or lead?  I looks like it might be a lead seal.
