Justin II solidus
« on: October 05, 2014, 09:36:07 am »
Hi! I can't find this type of solidus... the reverse legend ends with number of officina  :Greek_Gamma: followed by  :dots2: . this characteristic is of Sear 348 that however has C in left field. But this coin has no letters in field.

thanks for any help

Hahn tentatively attributes this type to Rome mint but states that they are in fact imitative issues (p. 25) because stylistically speaking they cannot be attributed to any known mint. It's a rare coin in any case.
