On obverse is Tyche.           On the reverse could be Zeus with scepter and thunderbolt.

Thanks to Pekka's good eyes, we know that your coin is from Adramytion in Mysia. It is not listed in AMNG, SNG BN, SNG Leypold, SNG Aulock, SNG Cop. The obverse legend names the city-goddess Thebe, an interesting variety which I only found on AMNG 99-100, but there without the city name and on a smaller module.

Someone might want to check ISEGRIM. It certainly is a rare and interesting type.

Isegrim only lists two coins without the city ethnic as Lars referenced.  It does list two coins with Poseidon reverses for Lucilla and Elagabalus.

Thank you for your attention. I can not access Isegrim. Some link where I can see this variant coin?

Can anyone hazard a guess as to what the reverse legend is?  Kurt, could you post the two ISEGRIM entries you found?  (I'm terrible at navigating ISEGRIM).

Thanks,
Tom

Thanks Kurt,

I was hoping the ISEGRIM entries would shed some light on the reverse legend.  Unfortunately, they do not.

Tom,

you have the coin in hand, so you may see more than we do on the pictures. Presumably the reverse legend names a magistrate, probably starting with ЄΠI or CTPA. I think I can see a A• or Λ• above the dolphin, which makes Lucius Iulius Apolinarius a candidate since according to von Fritze he is the only that uses • in his legends, f.e. ЄΠI C•Λ•IOY•AΠOΛINAPIOY on AMNG 91 or CTP•Λ•IOY•AΠOΛINAPIOY on AMNG 89. It could be a different variety of his name, but of course this is guesswork at best.

Yes, there is a pellet above.  It looks like the legend is CTP AAP (or N) AA (A could be lamda). To the right is ADP...so, the city name again.

I really need to get a copy of Von Fritze.
