(early) Medieval coin for ID
« on: July 29, 2014, 07:19:12 am »
Hi all,

This coin belongs to a colleague detectorist of mine. He seems to find some difficulties finding it's origin.

Additional info:

This coin was found in the centre of France.
It measures 13.2mm
Weighs 0.6gr
Silver

Hopefully answers will be found on this forum!

Best regards :)

Hi

My guess, and only a guess, would be Merovingian. It looks like the right lettering style plus is that a worn monogram in picture 2? There are references for these (Belfort?) but maybe try a few French sites.

Best Regards
