Nomination for "ancient-artefacts777" as a Notorious Fraud
« on: July 14, 2014, 07:59:55 pm »
I would like to nominate eBay seller "ancient-artefacts777" for the NFSL.

He has been offering quite a few modern fakes in the past few months.  The seller has been contacted and politely notified about the inauthenticity of his coins.  He has denied them being fakes and refuses to remove his listings.

Here is a link to their item list: http://www.ebay.com/sch/ancient-artefacts777/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

Also here are a few examples of his past and current sales:

Thanks Joe, i have made Fake Coin Reports for all of the coins pictured above.

I have received many angry messages from this seller, to say the least he is not happy.  He is claiming that this topic is illegal and he is threatening to take legal action against me and FORVM ANCIENT COINS for hosting this "illegal" discussion.  ::)

I look forward to hearing from his lawyers!  ;D

I wish he would, that would make for an entertaining ordeal.  Here are a couple highlights from his recent additions:

The "athens tet" was made using a combination of two of his previous "owls".  The obverse of the last coin pictured above, and the reverse of the first.

Of course these are all "extremely very rare"

Of course they are! Slobod said he was only going to make three of them!

Here are some more "extremely very rare" modern fakes currently for sale from our friends at "ancient-artefacts777"

The "drachm" is an exact copy of the "drachm" sold last week that i posted a picture of above.

If anyone has a minute and ebay account please report his listings, the more reports the more likely ebay will remove these listings.

Here's a quick link to report fake coins  http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ContactUs&userid=&pass=&wftype=2022&rcode=BN%25P10072&subject=Selling+Coins&bcrumb=Topics+%3E+%3Ca%20href='http://stores.ebay.com/

I have sent off a report to eBay, for what good it might do. I have also contacted the seller and asked why he has not mentioned that these are fakes. Some people just have no shame.

I just received this considered reply from ancient-artefacts777:

"You are fake
The coin is 100% authentic
We didn't sell fake coins like Forum ancient coins"

Please remember we do NOT orchestrate campaigns against sellers from here. We discuss fake coins, we maintain a database of fake coin reports, and we maintain a list notorious fake sellers. That is ALL we do. For this seller, we have already done everything we do here.  If he lists additional fakes, please add fake coin reports for them. There is no need for further discussion of ancient-artefacts777.

I have created Fake Coin Reports for the rest of the coins pictured above.  I'm sure there will be many more to come.

Sorry Joe as you know when it comes to ancient coins we are all very passionate about exposing the frauds out there.

I am glad this thread has had so many views hopefully we prevented some unsuspecting collector from purchasing one of these horrible fakes
