thread to invite you all to participate in a beautiful self-production editorial initiative, promoted by the famous scholar Fiorenzo
Catalli.
I want to make it clear that this project is
completely non-profit, so
this thread is not a commercial advertising, but an invitation to collaboration.

Catalli, summarized in English: helped by volunteers, the scholar is working since years to the electronic catalogation of the Coin Cabinet of the National Archaeological Museum of Florence, but he would try to release paper volumes too. To avoid asking for sponsors he decided to launch a subscription among numismatists and collectors, to publish all together a
SNG catalogue, listing all the coins from Ariminum to Terina,
Italic and
Magna Graecia coins. Self-publishing the volume will make cost much cheaper. The only way to make this possible is to start asking a typographer and divide the true costs, without profits by anyone.
The project is to print 500 copies of a volume of 170 pages, color photos, A4 format, hardcover color, paper gr. 170, by typography Bandecchi and Vivaldi in Pontedera (PI).
Each reservation would be 15
euro per volume. Of course you can ask more than one copy.
Who is willing to
help this project please communicate at the moment only

Take into account the shipping costs to add to the printing costs. For shipping outside
Italy rates do change depending on the country of destination (from
Italy to USA about 25 euros) I think it is
still a
good cost if compared with the
average price of any
SNG volume.

Cari amici,
chi mi segue da tempo conosce il mio interesse non solo a portare avanti il catalogo on line del Monetiere del Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze ma anche a far uscire i relativi cataloghi cartacei. Nonostante qualcuno potrebbe giudicarli superati dalla Rete, chi vi scrive ha ancora voglia di sfogliare un bel catalogo pagina per pagina.
I generosi sponsor che fino ad oggi mi hanno aiutato non possono fare miracoli!
Per questo ho pensato di lanciare una sottoscrizione per pubblicare tutti insieme un catalogo della Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum, con tutte le monete da Ariminum a Terina, monete italiche e magno greche.
L’unico modo è partire da un preventivo vero presso un tipografo e dividerci i costi veri, senza lucro da parte di nessuno.
Per stampare 500 copie di un volume di 170 pagine, foto a colori, formato A4, copertina cartonata a colori, carta gr. 170, la tipografia Bandecchi e Vivaldi di Pontedera (PI) mi ha chiesto 5.400 euro per un prezzo a volume di 10,80 euro. Tenete, però, presente che io devo dare in omaggio almeno 120-130 copie non solo agli autori ma anche alle biblioteche specializzate, anche dei circoli numismatici, alla biblioteca del Museo di Firenze per scambio, ai funzionari e a tutto il personale del Museo che ha collaborato e agli amici della struttura de La moneta.it che ha collaborato e sta collaborando con la messa on line di ogni singola moneta. Per questo motivo la vostra prenotazione sarebbe di 15 euro a volume. E naturalmente potete chiedere più di una copia
Chi è disposto ad aiutarmi mi comunichi per il momento solo l’adesione…….. per raccogliere i soldi c’è tempo al momento di consegnare il lavoro al tipografo.
Vi allego qualche pagina del catalogo e aspetto fiducioso…..
