solidus, Justinian I

Hi everybody,

I got this coin from a person that had it in a pendant.

cm 2x2
  g 4,4

I'm curious about the mint mark: COMOB . If I am right this correspond to Thessaloniki, but I would like to have more ideas about that because I did not find other specimens like that.

Concerning conservation I would say : F .

Thanks

Lucius

Looks like usual CONOB to me, with a small nick on the bar that creates the illusion of "M".

COMOB on 6th-sentury gold usually signifies Western "barbaric" kingdoms minting in the name of Eastern Roman Emperors. But this coin's style is completely Constantinopolitan.
