This coin is currently at auction on ebay. It is a cast copy of a fairly rare type from 83 AD, RIC 167. Note the casting bubbles and overall soft details.

Keen observation! I must admit that at first glance--and maybe more than that--I would not have doubted either coin.

I can see that the eBay coin is a device-match to the one on forgerynetwork, but I don't see the casting bubbles. I'm not not so bold as to debate the issue with experts, but the eBay coin doesn't look particularly soft to me either - it looks struck. What am I missing?

The two coins match up regarding the flans and the devices exactly. The current ebay coin looks as if it has been mechanically worn - even so, you can still see tiny casting bubbles and the overall appearance is soft. I don't know how more plainly to describe it, the images speak for themselves.

Well, you're not the only one - currently it is going for over $120. I contacted the seller, but based on his other offerings I don't expect a response or the listing to be pulled.

He may be busy since he gives his address as London, England, but thanks to UK law, we UK users are able to see his real address.

He has changed his business name.

He had previously been copying the listing titles of L.A.C. until I let them know about what he was doing.

I noticed that odd "good old London, England" address as well. Something doesn't smell right about the whole thing.

All his other coin listings, except for the low end bronze, look cast. I'll take Jay's word for the "artifacts". Definitely worthy of NFSL nomination, IMHO.

On another coin forum's "ancient coins" Thread, another one of this seller's coins has "popped up".

The buyer, from the US, thought he had got a bargain (he was looking for a Vespasian Denarius to complete his Flavian collection).

Unfortunately for him it was an example of a cast replica of the one below:

Certainly the seller seems not to care that he is selling known fakes.

In my opinion, yes, absolutely. Clearly that seller has no ethos but a steady supply of Fakes.

The desired response is not a confirmation that he should be nominated, but instead an actual nomination. A nomination includes the seller's username and a link to their ebay item list page. Thanks.

Two days ago I contacted the seller regarding the cast Domitian and provided information where he can see the other cast example ... I still have not received a response and the coin is still listed. This seller is not very ethical if you ask me.
