No idea.  It could have been stuck to furniture or chest.  In original copper or bronze colour it would have shone nicely with all those facets.

Hi Shawn '

It is interesting,  after a few years I collect some of them, I do not known what they are, but they have some different shape some times and some variability of the size too...

It was thought interesting, so I collected a couple, I was hoping someday turn out to be what they are and what they were used at the time. I really think the Roman era.

I will post some others if I turning home ..

I really don't think they are Roman, the style is just too different from everything known.

Any idea where they are from?

I would look at some non-Roman cultural group from that area, but whether a Celtic or Germanic or other group from during the Roman period, or a post-Roman group - Germanic or Slavic or Magyar - I have no clue.

Could they be some sort of gaming piece or counter? The two on the bottom left of your picture seem to have a II and a I on their backs but I have no idea whether that might be significant or not.  ???

I have never seen anything like them but you did ask for any ideas.  :P  ;D

Alex.

Your idea to gaming piece not far from my idea too, but I know they used bone, glass and bronze also like a Jeton.

Is the second to last one you posted supposed to have a face, or is that just the dirt/lighting that makes it look that way?

Hi Nick

It is OK looking like a face, some others have some different shape...
but we do not know,
"What could it be, and whether it was used" and when Bronz age , roman time, barbaricum etc...???

I like Shawn's idea that they were ornamental pieces stuck to furniture or chests.  That's the first thing I thought of before reading his response. Either that or a form of proto-currency.  Without any context it is basically impossible to say.

Hi

Yes...

I also thought about these in age, although no evidence for anything and I have not seen anywhere else yet so little things like that is hard to decide whether what the original purpose of use.

Hi.
I know their not, but being flat on one side, the bugs remind me of ancient Chinese ant nose money:
