unknown trachy maybe thessalonica clbc 13.9
« on: December 11, 2013, 02:06:36 pm »
Greetings,

I´ve got a puzzling little coin here, 19mm max. The flan is thin, the weight is little more than 1g.
Obverse I cant find out anything at all, maybe a dotted circle with something in it.
Reverse I can see on the left an emperor, sitting on a throne, holding a scepter;  on the right, there is another figure, nimbated, over the armrest in the middle can a hand be seen. Also a little spotty legend, starting on 7 o´clock.

Could this be a Manuel Comnenus Ducas, CLBC 13.9. ? Or are there any other ideas? I´ve never seen this coin before.
And if it was this Number, is it a 13.92 ? or the bigger one, for the die fills the whole 19mm...

Thanks a lot

Best regards Posa

Yes, definitely CLBC 13.9.2. A rare module for this type.
