Well, I see I haven't provided any updates to this thread for a long time - so I'm overdue.  In the past year I've added a small group of ex-David Sellwood Collection Vologases III tets, some decent AE Elymaean drachms, a worn but nice Orodes I (Sellwood's Unknown King) tet, a not-so-pretty Artabanos II tet, a broken Kamnaskires V drachm (portrait still intact...got it for a steal), and the following.

This is my first ever plate coin: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-129611
It's a tiny (8mm) and very rare AR obol from the reign of Kamnaskires IV of Elymais, c. 63/2 - 54/3 BC.  It appears in P.A. van't Haaff's "Catalogue of Elymaean Coinage" (CNG, 2007) as van't Haaff 8.2.3-1a.  Not the sharpest pic, but it's the best my old Canon G11 can do with such a small coin.

Some of the better coins from the past year of uploads are here:

Elymais: Prince A, AE drachm: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-126862

Elymais: Orodes IV, AE drachm: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-126863

Parthia: Orodes I (Sellwood's Unknown King), AR tetradrachm: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-127329

Parthia: Vologases III, AR tetradrachm (ex-David Sellwood Collection): https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-124821

Great acquisitions. Of all of them I am drawn to the Orodes IV.

Adding two Parthian tets today:

Vonones I, Sellwood 60.2:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-130051
You'll note evidence of the undertype on the reverse...what you see there is the profile of Phraataces, the brother of Vonones.  This tet was overstruck on a tet of Phraataces and his wife Musa (who was also his mother...yuck!).

Artabanos III, Sellwood 74.5 var.; Sylloge Nummorum Parthicorum, Volume 7, Plate 50, #841A (this coin):
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-130053
This is my second plate coin, the first being the Kamnaskires IV obol I added to the gallery last month.  What was especially pleasing about this one is that it was not advertised in the auction as an SNP plate coin.  It was only in verifying the attribution that I noticed that the book illustrates the identical coin.  A very cool surprise!

Adding two Elymaean plate coins this evening, both ex-Van't Haaff collection (P.A. van't Haaff wrote the "Catalogue of Elymaean Coinage"):

Orodes IV
AE drachm
Second half of 2nd Century AD
Van’t Haaff 17.1.1-2a (this coin)
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-130413

Kamnaskires-Orodes
AE drachm
Early to mid 2nd Century AD
Van’t Haaff 12.3.1-1B.e (this coin)
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-130410

Also recently added this little one from Elymais:
Phraates
AE drachm
Early to mid 2nd century AD
Van’t Haaff 14.6.1-3.b

Adding a rare tet from Elymais today.  This is a plate coin from the "Catalogue of Elymaean Coinage" by P. A. van't Haaff, and is from his personal collection (purchased directly from him):

I haven’t updated this thread for a while, so figured I’d do so by highlighting three pick-up’s from the past month:

Here’s a Vologases IV tet, Sellwood 84.18:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-133698

A Vologases III tet, Sellwood 79.6:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-134419

A Vologases II tet, Sellwood 72.2:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-134420

Thinking about freeing the last two from their coffins at some point.  Mulling it over…

Hi Bob,

some choice additions to the Vologases family, especially the E-series Vologases III.

Love these Volo's Bob.  Excellent pickups.  I guess the Parthian bug is still as strong as ever!

Thanks, Schatz and Steve.  Yeah, Steve, I guess I can't shake that bug...especially where the tets are concerned.
