I like the style of that last one. They all look the same at first, but there seem to be endless minor variations in objects, attributes and poses.

I love these "Danubian rider plaques".

Interestingly there are actually a limited number of types.  Ertl has created a classification which has about 8 main types based on body shape - rectangular, rectangular with arch, round, rectangular with wavy top, etc.  Then there are a few sub-types - usually two to six - per main type.  But interestingly, within these sub-types there is no variety.  So all of his type H3, for example, are identical.  Every item is in the same place and same form on every H3.  The only differences are from the mould carving - like the differences in dies of the same coin type.

Several of the sub-types are only know from one or two examples.  In fact over 90% of the plaques out there actually fall into about six different sub-types.  It makes this quite a nice area of collecting.

I wonder if we can merge the two or three threads that these are shown in and make a main sticky thread?

Hi Gert and Shawn sorry the forget this thread....

Absolutely agree it would be nice to make a main sticky thread of this  "Danubian rider plaques" -s.

I have some more, but they are not intact, some of they are fragment only .. but always nice  :)
If you need, I will put some more into my Gallery to use it. One day will be a good NumisWiki page or article  ::)
