Follis, Justinianus
« on: July 14, 2013, 01:53:16 pm »
This coin was sold on Ebay as a coin with an error in legend (VISTINIANVS instead of IVSTINIANVS). The edge of this coin, the mint mark, the stars...that looks odd to me. However, there are some parts of the coin that seem to be ok. Is it a very rare authentic coin or a fake one ?

The coin is authentic. No question about that.
Concerning the inscription, Antioch mint was very well known for producing coins with irregular or completely blundered inscriptions.
The coin is rare but rarity in this case does not add alot (if anything) to the value of the coin.
