Please can you help ID this small coin?
« on: June 07, 2013, 09:47:10 am »
Hello. This is a small coin that puzzles me. I guess it could be Mamluk, and on the reverse l.2 I think I read al-'Adil Muhammad... Can anybody tell me more? Thanks in advance...

Nobody ? I'm really puzzled. On the left side (obverse? reverse?) I can read l.1 "al-malik al- (...)" but I have no clue for l.2. On the other side the calligraphy looks weird. But it is a real coin.

The right photo shows " Ibn al-Malik al-A'dil Mahmud"..

Which makes it Zangid fals of Syria,  al-Salih Isma‘il, 569-577 (Damascus mint)

You mean "Jazilan" instead of "Jezilan"  :)

Please excuse dialect and pronounciation... Maybe I have the Druze accent  ;)
