Green Jasper Islamic Seal
« on: April 14, 2013, 07:37:05 am »
Hi all, I posted this last year in the Islamic coins board with no results.  I think it may be Persian.  Thanks, V-drome

Hi Jimmy, it is a personal seal with for sime body whos name is engraved in the middle of the seal and the name is Shaker Abdo.شاكر عبده
The upper part : مطر اول i am not sure what does this mean maybe first rain!!!!!!!
The lower part another name ( توفيق Tawfiq) means sucess and حق يا رب ( some kind of pray maybe!!!)
Maybe Sam or Bakkar can interptret it better than me  with their wide expertise

Thank you Canaan.  That is very interesting.  In the bottom line are 4 smaller figures.  Do you think this could be a date: 1212AH?  Let me know if you have any other clues to the date of this style.

Best regards, Jimi

Hi Jimi, i do not know if it is a date or just a part of the decoration, but if so it would be consistent with this style of seal date because the seal is most likely Ottoman
